Entry 39:

I have been doing a lot of research lately, from god old baseline planet mapping to taking samples from various thargoid ships. Though the story of how I got my hands on several interceptor tissue samples and hearts is quite a tale to tell, I am more eager to talk about the science that’s been happening on my carrier lately. Ever since the fascinating results I got from introducing my “little ones” to the bio storage capsules, I have made it a habit to let them have a look at ever new sample I bring back to my carrier. Most of time they show little interest in the rare and valuable items I frequently risk my life to acquire, but one substance was an instant banger: Coral sap! I found this stuff on the abandoned thargoid spire and brought several samples of it back with me. The effect it had on my “little ones” when I introduced it to them, is best compared to giving catnip to a bunch of kittens! They instantly jumped on it, playfully scratching and biting it. The sap naturally takes on a round, sturdy ball shape so it is the perfect toy for them. It’s really endearing to watch them tumble around while kicking and rolling these balls down the corridors. I have no other use for the sap right now anyway so I’m happy to let them have their fun with it for the time being. Tough “cutty” does not approve of this, he felt it necessary to point out that “Intentionally inducing uncontrolled excitement and aggravated behavior in a potentially superior life form may result in a serious safety hazard!” ...big talk for a tin-can on stilts doing the exact same thing on a regular basis!
